advising fellows Program Associate
The Advising Fellow Program Associate will oversee our campus Fellowships and Advising Fellows by:
Ensure college Advising Fellows (AFs) on at least three campuses are able to empower high-achieving, low-income high school students to make the leap to top colleges by supporting, growing and evaluating Advising Fellow recruitment, selection, training, certification, engagement, and appreciation
Assume responsibility for ensuring Matriculate’s high school students regularly connect with Advising Fellows and achieve college application outcomes
Coach and support AFs in mentoring their students, providing college-content knowledge, and navigating challenging situations
Recruit a high-quality team of AFs on each campus by working with Head Advising Fellows (HAFs), Advising Fellow Leadership Teams and the Matriculate Recruitment and Training Manager
Ensure AFs are prepared to provide excellent support for high school students by leading an orientation, ongoing trainings, and a quality and preparedness certification process in conjunction with Head Advising Fellows and the Recruitment and Training Associate
Coach, support and manage HAFs; help them provide regular supervision and feedback to AFs to ensure high standards of quality on an ongoing basis
Monitor quality of high school student experience; devise and implement strategies to increase retention and outcomes
Identify and creatively troubleshoot challenges as they arise
Foster community and belonging among AFs
Build a leadership pipeline among AFs
Program Impact Measurement and Improvement
Implement program learning and evaluation plan to ensure continuous improvement and to understand Matriculate’s ultimate impact
Track metrics for college and high school students
Collect, analyze, interpret, and report program data for evaluation
Commitment to Excellence
Collaborate across the Matriculate program to ensure maximum consistencies and efficiencies
Develop expertise in the college access landscape
Identify and troubleshoot challenges as they arise
Contribute to Matriculate’s culture of continuous improvement
Who You Are
The Advising Fellow Program Associate will embody Matriculate’s values and a commitment to high-quality student experience. Specifically, you bring:

WORK EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years of experience at a program that serves students. Prior experience in college access/success, youth development, education equity and/or serving as a peer mentor or leadership position on campus is a plus.
EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATIONS: Conveys information clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing. Experience creating program materials and other resources.
ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS: Excellent attention to detail with the ability to see projects through from start to finish. Stays focused on execution to reach stated goals.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Builds, manages and leverages relationships with diverse groups and with a proven track record of flexibility and influence.
STRATEGIC THINKING AND EXECUTION: Balances strategic and analytical thinking and program execution. Leverages data in short- and long-term planning.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: Command of MS office suite and remote communications methods. Experience with Salesforce is a plus.
EDUCATION: A bachelor’s degree is required.
WORK TRAVEL AND LOCATION
This position works out of Matriculate’s office in Lower Manhattan in NYC. Applicants must be able to travel to urban and rural communities up to 20% of time, as well as occasional nights and weekends as needed
